Numerical simulations have become even more important as detailed comparisons between theories and observations are now possible at a deeper level in most fields of astrophysics. The aim of this series of meetings is to bring (but not limited to) East-Asian numerical astrophysicists together and provide chances to learn each other's work and explore possible collaborations among them. The scope of the meeting will encompass all major astronomical research fields that involve numerical simulations, including (but not limited to) cosmology, astronomical hydrodynamics, magnetohydrodynamics, radiative transfer, particle acceleration, and planetary / stellar / galactic dynamics. In addition, there will also be a focus on computer science applications directed toward astrophysics including numerical methods, simulation data analysis, high performance computing, and optimization for use on large scale computer clusters. Participants from outside of the East Asia are warmly welcome as well.
Important deadlines: The registration deadline is the 30th of September 2018. The abstract submission deadline is 22nd of September 2018.

The European Einstein Toolkit meeting 2018 will be held at Instituto Superior Tecnico in Lisbon, running from September 10th to 13th, and will be an excellent opportunity for researchers and students interested in numerical relativity to interact and learn about the Einstein Toolkit and its development. The Einstein Toolkit is an open source software framework used by many numerical relativity groups around the world.
The first two days of the meeting will cover presentations and tutorials geared towards newcomers. Afterwards time will be devoted to more specialized topics. All are welcome throughout. Time will additionally be set aside for discussions on the future development of the Toolkit. There is no registration fee.

The next edition (fourth) of the "Physics and Astrophysics at the eXtreme" (PAX) meeting will be held in IUCAA, Pune (India) from August 7 - 10, 2018. We expect the meeting to end after lunch (around 2pm) on August 10.
For continuity, we plan to have discussion sessions on various topics that have been of interest in PAX meetings, which have examined what new physics and astrophysics current and future gravitational wave detectors may unravel, sometimes in conjunction with other electromagnetic and particle observations. However, one of the highlighted themes for this edition is Tests of General Relativity.
While interested participants are required to register for the meeting by June 15, 2018, there will be no registration fees charged. The registration website will be linked in the coming weeks from the meeting website.

Teleparallel Gravity Workshop in Tartu
is a continuation of the conference Geometric Foundations of Gravity in Tartu, 2017. The workshop will take place June 25-29, 2018 at the University of Tartu in Estonia. AdS/CFT has been one of the most fruitful approaches to analyse the qualitative aspects of the dynamics of strongly interacting QFTs, most prominently QCD. As an approach to understanding the early stage of high energy heavy ion collisions, but also proton-proton collisions at LHC, it is, in fact, one of very few systematic approaches. However, it is not clear how reliable the description is quantitatively, because QCD is not a N=4, supersymmetric, conformal, SU(N) gauge theory with infinite N and the QCD coupling constant is of limited size. Individual contributions exist on both sides of the duality calculating the size of the relevant corrections (like the perturbative calculation of quantum corrections on the gravity side for finite N and finite coupling strength, the lattice simulation of SU(N) gauge theories with N>3, the calculation of perturbative corrections from non conformality on the QFT side, lattice simulation with partial supersymmetry ...) but no systematic effort. In addition, more general scenarios for gauge/gravity dualities have been studied, extending beyond the realms of AdS, CFT, and string theory. The probability is high that quantitative contact can only be made on the basis of non-perturbative calculations on both sides, which is a very tall order. On the QFT side, lattice QFT is the best established tool to do so, while on the quantum gravity side resummed string theory is the main approach. In addition, there is an increased recent interest within loop quantum gravity in holographic computations.
The aim of the workshop is to bring some of the internationally leading experts in these fields together, formulate a more systematic strategy, and realize a few projects in the direction of a quantitative application of quantum gravity techniques to QCD in subsequent months. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

The 2018 North American Einstein Toolkit Workshop will be held at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, GA from June 18th to 20th, 2018. The Workshop will be an excellent opportunity to learn more about current developments and future plans of the Einstein Toolkit as well as to interact with some of the developers and active members of the community.
The three days of the Workshop will include code development updates, invited talks, contributed talks from active members of the Einstein Toolkit community and discussion sessions.
Registration for the North American ET Workshop 2018 is now open.

The Third IUCSS Summer School and Workshop on the Standard-Model Extension (SME) will be held in the Physics Department at Indiana University, Bloomington from Friday June 15 to Saturday June 23, 2018. This event is aimed primarily at students and researchers in theory and experiment who seek a pedagogical introduction to the SME framework.
Starting from the foundations, the School lectures will explore theoretical, phenomenological, and experimental topics in Lorentz and CPT breaking and guide participants to the forefront of current research in the field. The discussion sessions are designed to reinforce and supplement the lecture material. A poster session will provide an opportunity for School participants to showcase their own research. An IUCSS Workshop on current research in Lorentz and CPT violation will be held concurrently during the last part of the School.
The School is envisaged to cover the following topics:

Summary and goals of the conference
The biennial conference of the Italian Society for General Relativity and Gravitation (SIGRAV) is devoted to all aspects of gravitational physics, such as classical and quantum gravity, relativistic astrophysics and cosmology, as well as experimental gravity.
The six-day conference will host about twenty invited plenary talks and shorter invited and contributed talks in three parallel sessions. A science popularisation/outreach session will also be hosted during the conference.
The 23rd edition of the conference will be dedicated to black holes. Einstein’s gravitational theory predicts the existence of black holes, objects so compact that light cannot escape their gravitational field. Several types of black hole may exist: mini black holes, stellar black holes, and supermassive black holes with millions of solar masses. Experimental evidence for the existence of stellar and supermassive black holes continues to mount, so what was once considered to be science fiction, has now become reality. In this conference, an overview on all aspects of black-hole physics will be given. The 5th Conference of the Polish Society on Relativity will consist of two parts, devoted, respectively, to classical and quantum gravity.
The first part will cover mathematical structures in classical gravity, exact solutions of Einstein equations, physics of black holes, cosmological models, alternative models of gravity, and the research related to the recent detection of gravitational waves.
The second part will be devoted to discussion of basic tools of quantum gravity and noncommutative geometry, in particular quantum space-times, quantum phase spaces, and quantum symmetries. We will consider quantum gravity models e.g. LQG (loop quantum gravity), matrix models and discretized approach to Feynman description of quantized gravity and new approaches to string theory.

The Irish Quantum Foundations meetings aim to present the current year's most exciting developments in any research area broadly related to quantum foundations. It is not unusual for the meeting also to cover topics more broadly in theoretical and experimental physics, especially when doing so gives newly arrived and early career researchers a chance to present their work to the Irish theoretical physics community.
The event is jointly organised by Dublin City University, the Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies, Maynooth University, Trinity College Dublin and University College Dublin. This year, the event will be jointly hosted by the DCU School of Mathematical Sciences and the Centre for Astrophysics and Relativity (CfAR) at DCU; it will take pace on the All Hallows campus of DCU. The International Centre for Theoretical Sciences (ICTS), TIFR is organizing a summer school on gravitational-wave (GW) astronomy from 13 to 24 August, 2018 in Bangalore, India. This school is part of the annual ICTS summer schools on GW astronomy.
Recent GW observations have firmly established the field of GW astronomy. Physicists and astrophysicists are now coming up with novel ways of using GW observations to address a variety of questions in fundamental physics and astrophysics. Recognizing this, the school has started to include courses which are considered to be outside to the traditional scope of GW physics. This year’s school will involve four graduate-level courses.

It is a great pleasure to invite you to the 22nd International Conference on General Relativity and Gravitation (GR22) and the 13th Amaldi Conference on Gravitational Waves (Amaldi13) which takes place from 7th – 12th July 2019 at the University of Valencia, Spain.
GR22 is the latest in the series of triennial international conferences held under the auspices of the International Society on General Relativity and Gravitation. This conference series constitutes the principal international meetings for scientists working in all areas of relativity and gravitation. The Amaldi conferences are held under the auspices of the Gravitational Wave International Committee. Since 1997, they have been held every two years and are regarded as the most important international conferences for the gravitational-wave detection community. In Valencia, GR22 and Amaldi13 are organized as a joint event.
The program of the conference, among many topics, includes a celebration of the Eddington expedition, the status of analogue experiments, tests on the nature of compact objects, superradiance and dark matter in strong-field gravity, progress in post-Newtonian expansions and effective field theory methods, progress in mathematical relativity, Numerical Relativity and its applications to astrophysics and high-energy physics, neutron stars, formation of supermassive black holes, Loop Quantum Gravity, the Event Horizon Telescope, the galactic center black hole, holography and quantum information, post-Planck cosmology, the LIGO-Virgo detections and multi-messenger astronomy, as well as the future of gravitational-wave detectors.
The program will also include a public talk on gravitational waves, an award ceremony for the IUPAP Young Scientist Prize, and a tribute to Stephen Hawking.
The conference venue is the Valencia Conference Centre (2010 World’s Best Convention Centre) designed by internationally renowned architect Norman Foster. Public transportation access is straightforward from all parts of the city by either bus, metro, or tram, or even using the environmentally friendly bicycles of Valenbisi. The venue is only ten minutes away from the city’s airport and from the high-speed train station, and it is surrounded by hotels, with circa 1,000 hotel rooms within two minutes’ walking distance. The venue is well connected with the Old Town where the visitor can enjoy a large monumental heritage comprising buildings dating to Roman and Arabic times and UNESCO heritage sites.

The PPGCosmo program anticipates having three-year postdoctoral positions in astrophysics, cosmology and gravitation starting in August 2018. PPGCosmo is a Brazilian program consisting of four institutions from Brazil and five institutions outside Brazil. The group of Relativistic Theoretical Astrophysics in Frankfurt invites applications for a postdoctoral position in Relativistic Theoretical Astrophysics.
Candidates should have a PhD in astrophysics, physics or applied mathematics. Research experience with simulations in numerical relativity, relativistic hydrodynamics and MHD is favourably evaluated. Candidates with knowledge and experience in modelling the electromagnetic emission from merging binaries will be particularly favoured.
The successful applicant will be part of an international research group recently set-up at the Institute for Theoretical Physics at Frankfurt, Germany. Interests of the group span from the modelling of the physics of neutron stars and black holes, to fundamental issues in gravitational physics (https://relastro.uni-frankfurt.de/). Frankfurt am Main is a lively and international city, and Europe's financial center.

The Department of Physics has been running M.Phil. program in Physics since 2008 and regular M.Sc. and Ph.D. programs in physics since 2012, with our first batch of M. The department has an extensive program of visiting scholars and scientists and has quite a few renowned teacher-researchers in various fields as Adjunct Professors and Young Associates. It organizes regular seminars, conferences and workshops in a broad range of topics. The department maintains strong research links with leading national and international research groups. The department is housed at the Belur campus of the university, with an ambiance that is not only picturesque and salubrious just next to the Ganges and the Belur Math, the Headquarters of the worldwide twin organizations, the Ramakrishna Math and the Ramakrishna Mission, but also elevating and peaceful—an ideal environ for academic and research activity. Eligibility: The applicant must have obtained a Ph.D. degree from a recognized University with preferably one stint of post-doctoral experience at any reputed University/Institute in India or abroad.
Terms and conditions of the appointment : The initial appointment of postdoctoral fellows will be for one year, renewable for one more year subject to satisfactory performance. We envisage a target starting date of 1 September 2018, but this is flexible.
The starting fellowship is 50,000 INR per month (consolidated). In addition, the fellows will be offered a research grant of 1 lac INR per annum for attending international conferences and making collaborative research visits.
