To prepare for LISA observations and its unique data products, we are announcing the 2nd LISA Sprint to be held in Pasadena, CA on the Caltech campus from Monday April 29 to Wednesday May 1, 2024. The meeting's objectives are twofold: The first goal is to connect LISA data scientists with astronomers and astrophysicists who will incorporate LISA data products into their own research. The second is to advance the broader research community's readiness to capitalize on LISA observations. During the workshop small interdisciplinary teams of researchers will come together and make concrete progress on concise projects and goals related to LISA science objectives. A number of project ideas, analysis and visualization tools, and simulated data products, will be curated and provided by the organizers in collaboration with experts in the field. Our weeklong program includes two related activities: (i) a SpEC and SpECTRE developers meeting and (ii) a SpECTRE community workshop. The code developers' meeting will bring together researchers who are actively developing SpEC, SpECTRE, and accompanying software for interacting with publicly available simulation datasets such as gravitational waveforms. Our SpECTRE workshop aims to provide graduate students, postdocs, and faculty with the tools to install, run, and contribute to the open-source code SpECTRE. The open-source code SpECTRE is a relativistic astrophysics code for simulating neutron star mergers, core-collapse supernovae, and gamma-ray bursts. Our SpECTRE workshop will include both lectures and hands-on sessions. Lecture topics will include the generalized harmonic formulation of the Einstein field equation, general relativistic hydrodynamics, the discontinuous Galerkin method with finite volume sub-cells, and the Cauchy characteristic extraction method. He is survived by his mother, his wife and his daughters Eszter and Katalin. Janos completed his doctoral studies at the Theoretical Department of RMKI and received his Ph.D. in 1995 with his thesis "Investigations of Spacetime Singularities in General Relativity and Einstein-Cartan Theory". He then completed his postdoctoral training in the relativity group at the Max Planck Institute for Physics and Astrophysics in Munich and as a postdoctoral fellow in the mathematical relativity research group at the Max Planck Institute for Gravitational Physics (Albert Einstein Institute) in Potsdam. Janos is best known for determining, in collaboration with Helmut Friedrich, the behavior of various fields characterizing Bondi systems in the region of spacetime where null infinity touches spacelike infinity. They related these fields, in particular the Newmann-Penrose constants, to the behavior of the initial data near spacelike infinity. After returning to Hungary, Janos became a Senior Research Fellow at the Theoretical Department of RMKI, where his research continued to be related to important problems in mathematical relativity, such as singularity theorems or the Cauchy problem. During the last two decades, Janos's talents have left traces in the development of new technologies of international companies such as Nokia, SAP and GE. Testing theories of gravity with planetary ephemerides. Living Rev Relativ 27, 1 (2024) https://doi.org/10.1007/s41114-023-00047-0 Abstract: We describe here how planetary ephemerides are built in the framework of General Relativity and how they can be used to test alternative theories. We focus on the definition of the reference frame (space and time) in which the planetary ephemeris is described, the equations of motion that govern the orbits of solar system bodies and electromagnetic waves. After a review on the existing planetary and lunar ephemerides, we summarize the results obtained considering full modifications of the ephemeris framework with direct comparisons with the observations of planetary systems, with a specific attention for the PPN formalism. We then discuss other formalisms such as Einstein-dilaton theories, the massless graviton and MOND.
