Conferences ============================================== 1.1. International Conference on Gravitation and Cosmology (ICGC) - 2015, Mohali, India --------------------------------------------------------------- Announcement on Hyperspace@GU: http://hyperspace.uni-frankfurt.de/?p=11043 Starting: 2015-12-14 to 2015-12-18 Location: Mohali, India Additional Information: http://icgc2015.in/ Contact: mail[AT]icgc2015.in Dear Colleagues, The next International Conference on Gravitation and Cosmology (ICGC) will be held in Mohali, India, from 14-18 December 2015. It will be hosted by the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Mohali. ICGC is a quadrennial meeting held under the auspices of the Indian Association for General Relativity and Gravitation. This year being the centenary of General Relativity this edition of ICGC assumes special significance. Topics covered at this meeting will include Classical and Quantum Gravity, Numerical Relativity, Gravitational Waves, Cosmic Microwave Background, Dark Matter and Dark Energy, Early Universe and the Large Scale Structure of the Universe, and Relativistic Astrophysics. The Scientific Organizing Committee (SOC) is working on putting together a vibrant scientific program. In addition to hosting a number of plenary talks by invited speakers, we also encourage greater participant involvement via talks and posters contributed to parallel workshops and sessions. We encourage interested participants to visit the conference website to register and submit their abstracts by September 15, 2015. More information about this meeting can be found on the conference website. On behalf of the SOC and the Local Organizing Committee, chaired by Jasjeet Bagla, I look forward to welcoming you in Mohali, India, in December 2015. Sincerely, Sukanta Bose Chair, SOC, ICGC-2015 +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ 1.2. Large Scale Structure and Galaxy Flows, Quy Nhon, Vietnam --------------------------------------------------------------- Announcement on Hyperspace@GU: http://hyperspace.uni-frankfurt.de/2015/08/28/large-scale-structure-and-gala... Starting: 2016-07-03 to 2016-07-09 Location: Quy Nhon, Vietnam Additional Information: http://www.cpt.univ-mrs.fr/~cosmo/CosFlo16/index.php Contact: triay[AT]cpt.univ-mrs.fr According to the paradigm of hierarchical clustering, deviant motions from cosmic expansion arise as matter segregates into high and low regimes. It is possible to determine, alternatively, the motions that should arise from the observed distribution of galaxies or the distribution of matter from the observed motions of galaxies. It is a fundamental success of the paradigm that the two methodologies are in general agreement. In recent years there has been significant improvement in our knowledge of both the distribution of galaxies through comprehensive redshift surveys and the deviant motions of galaxies through measurements of distances. These observational advances have stimulated interest in methods of interpretation. The constraints on the distribution of matter and cosmological parameters are becoming increasingly precise. Yet major questions remain. Our aims are to discuss and review recent developments on: Distances, H0, and peculiar velocities Redshift surveys and implied velocity fields Linear and non-linear velocity field reconstructions Comparison/Reconciliation: velocities <--> densities <--> observed galaxies Bulk flows Cosmological parameters Initial conditions & constrained simulations baryon acoustic oscillations redshift space distortions kinematic Sunyaev-Zeldovich effect +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ 1.3.
